We are still showing the house on Sunday afternoons from 1 to 5. We have had tons of people come through but no one who was interested enough to see it a second time or place an offer.
We have discussed our timeline between now and Thanksgiving and have decided that, if it is not sold by then, we will take if off the market for the holidays, about 6 weeks, and put it back on in January. When we were discussing this, I told the husband that I just have a feeling that we will spend the holidays in this house and he agreed that he thought we would too. I am actually happy about that because I really like this house and it is a beautiful house in which to celebrate the holidays with family. I would much rather be here for the holidays than in a rental and I would really rather not have to move over the holidays.....although if someone offered to buy the house the week before Thanksgiving, I am sure we would sell it:).
As for the new house, we are still working on our house plans. We had another meeting with the architect yesterday and I think we are 98% done with the layout. We still have some work to do on the outside of the house though.
When we met with the architect yesterday we also requested the house design in PDF format so we could send it to "our energy guy", which is what I call this guy we met at the local homeshow. He provides consulting on how to make a house more energy efficient and he really knows his stuff. So we will ship our plans to him and then we will likely meet with him, either in person or by phone, to discuss any suggestions he might have. We will likely also send our plans to this architect that our energy guy highly recommended, as it is evident our architect is not up to date on all of the latest and greatest when it comes to building a very energy efficient house. So we are going to see if this other architect will do a bit of consulting and give us some advice on our plans.
We also have a meeting scheduled for Tuesday with a company called Kitchen Ideas to start working on the design of our kitchen. I visited two of their locations on Saturday and walked through some of their kitchens and I am very excited about the possibilities. It will be fun to start working on the details of the kitchen. They normally charge the public $850 for a kitchen design. Since we are our own builders, we get the builders discount. Our design will cost us $500 or maybe it was $550, I can't remember now. Either way, I think that is a great deal and I was amazed at how big the discount is for builders. Wow.
And that is the update on the house. Can you tell I have been without much adult interaction today?
